MOYLAN HITS THE GROUND RUNNING WITH CLUB RECORD SPONSORSHIP DEAL

Leigh Leopards are delighted to confirm that Australian international halfback Matt Moylan has landed in the UK ready to join up with his new teammates as preparations for the 2024 Betfred Super League season intensify.

Moylan was met at Manchester Airport arrivals by club owner Derek Beaumont and taken on a tour of the Leopards Den at Leigh Sports Village. After 11 seasons as a regular in the NRL with Penrith Panthers and Cronulla Sharks, Moylan is now doing the groundwork for his first season in the UK.

Confirmation of one of the biggest and most important signings in club history has attracted a club record sponsorship deal from one of the Leopards’ longest standing and most loyal sponsors.

CS (Civils & Groundworks) Limited have agreed to sponsor Moylan in the club record-breaking deal. Their owner Steve Openshaw is a Life Member of the Leopards, having served the club as non-executive director and provided valued consultancy services over many years, particularly with his expertise of the regulations concerning visa applications for overseas players.

Leopards owner Derek Beaumont said: “I would like to thank Steve for his long standing and continuous support and sponsorship of the club.

“Although he is no longer a part of the operational board, he is actively supportive, particularly around all our overseas visa applications. Steve has been a lifelong supporter of the club, and his sponsorship is always important to the club. But this year his significant increase in various properties of sponsorship and particularly of Matt has really assisted with being able to make such a signing.

“It’s a pleasure to meet players personally at the airport and introduce them to our Famileigh and I am privileged to be able to do that. I would like to thank our kit supplier Patrick for providing the kit with the CS Civils logo for Matt’s arrival at the club.

“I am looking forward to seeing him get stuck into training with the rest of the squad as Lammy looks to form his squad number selection.”

Steve Openshaw, owner of CS (Civils and Groundworks) Limited said: “We have supported the club since our inception over a decade ago and followed similar growth by also establishing ourselves as one of the core teams in the region.

“When Derek brought the sponsorship proposal to us in confidence before Matt’s signing was announced we were delighted to continue our assistance and look forward to the 2024 season.”
