Another year for Jack Hughes

Leigh Leopards are delighted to confirm that Jack Hughes has agreed a contract extension with the club, retaining his services for a fourth year.

The former Great Britain international, who hails from Golborne, has been an integral part of the Leopards’ successes in securing three successive playoff appearances and the 2023 Challenge Cup victory.

“I’m glad to have the opportunity to extend my contract at what is such an exciting time at the club,” Jack Hughes said.

“I’m excited with what is going on at the club on and off the field and it’s great to be a part of it.

“We have a massive togetherness, trust and connection among the playing staff and I love playing here.

“Evening games playing here just keep getting better week after week and I love looking forward to playing under the lights and in front of our fans.

“The journey has only just started for the club and the town.”

Club owner Derek Beaumont said: “It’s massive that Jack is staying. He’s a great person, a great pro and a great leader. For him actions speak louder than words but when he does speak everyone listens.

“If you peel it back he’s played halfback, centre, back row and middle this year and whatever he does he does at the best level he can.

“It’s important that we keep good people at the club for as long as we can.”

Hughes, 33, has also played for Wigan Warriors, Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves in a distinguished career after making his senior debut in 2011. He passed the notable career milestone of 350 senior games earlier this year.

Jack Hughes is sponsored by Bents.
