2024 Christmas Toy Appeal

Leigh Leopards are once again throwing their full support behind the Compassion in Action Christmas Toy Appeal.

We are calling for all Leythers to support this fantastic cause by taking a new toy to one of the collection points in Leigh by December 10th to be donated to somebody less fortunate.

The club has worked alongside Compassion in Action for many years on this initiative which has seen joy brought to many households across our local area.

Compassion In Action CEO Pam Gilligan recognises the support that Leigh Leopards have given the Christmas Toy Appeal.

“By uniting a community, we will ensure the most vulnerable local families are visited by Santa this year,” she said.

“Your amazing generosity year on year has made a difference to many children’s lives. In these challenging times your kindness is important more than ever. That is why Compassion in Action are once again collecting brand new toys and gifts for children aged 0-12.

“This is the 17th year of our Christmas Project providing three new presents per child and full Christmas Lunch for every family referral. The success of this project would not be possible without wonderful organisations and companies who donate money and presents to ensure every family referral is provided for.

“Leigh Leopards have been instrumental in their belief and support of the work of our Charity, especially at Christmas. The club owner, Derek Beaumont, has been our community rock, helping us to help others.

The whole Leopards team and fans, with players providing an inspirational lead, have supported our appeal year on year. Last year over 1,300 families in our community received presents and a full Christmas Lunch.

“We are ‘Stronger Together’ for our community.”

Leigh Leopards Derek Beaumont is a huge supporter of Compassion in Action and their contribution to the town.

“Pam is amazing and gives so much energy towards making things happen for others,” he said.

“She always puts others before herself and we both get more from giving than receiving. It’s all too easy at times for people to be privileged to give something but it’s knowing how to give and where it will make a difference that’s vital and that’s what stands Pam and Compassionate in Action out from the crowd.

“The club will again provide 100 free Red Card memberships worth over £6,000 to the appeal that whilst being a physical gift to open and explore is a provision of two fantastic experiences of live music pyros and explosive Super League action not to be missed.

“It’s a time for giving and anyone who can add anything, no matter how small, whilst doing their shopping will make a big difference to our community.

“I often dwell on the fact that we can’t change the world but draw comfort from the fact we can change the expression on someone’s face if only for a day.

“Taking part in the toy appeal Is an opportunity to help make that happen.”
