LEIGH LEOPARDS WOMEN’S HEAD COACH
2027 Season | Championship | Pathway to Super League
Leigh Leopards are seeking an ambitious, driven and committed Head Coach for our Women’s team ahead of the 2027 season.
Following our move into the Championship for 2027, we are looking for the right person to lead the team, develop our players and build a competitive squad with the clear objective of earning promotion back to the Women’s Super League in 2028.
Team training is based out of Leigh Sports Village with access to Super League standard training facilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team with a proud club identity, establish a strong performance culture and play a key role in the future of women’s rugby league at Leigh Leopards.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the coaching, development and performance of the Leigh Leopards Women’s team throughout the 2027 season.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and delivering the team’s training sessions, with a commitment of two evenings per week.
• Planning and delivering effective training programmes, match preparation and performance reviews.
• Developing individual players and maximising team performance.
• Establishing a strong culture of professionalism, accountability, standards and team spirit.
• Managing match-day preparation, tactics and in-game decision-making across approximately 14–18 match days.
• Supporting player recruitment, retention and squad development.
• Working collaboratively with the wider Leigh Leopards club to support the long-term growth and success of the women’s programme.
• Building a competitive team capable of challenging for promotion to the Women’s Super League in 2028.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
• Has a strong knowledge of rugby league and a clear coaching philosophy.
• Can demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills.
• Has the ability to motivate, develop and get the best out of players.
• Can create a positive, competitive and high-performance environment.
• Is organised, committed and capable of balancing short-term results with long-term player development.
• Shares the ambition to return Leigh Leopards Women to the Super League.
Previous coaching experience within women’s rugby league or at a comparable competitive level would be advantageous. Relevant coaching qualifications and a commitment to ongoing development are desirable.
Commitment
• Training: Two evenings per week.
• Fixtures: Approximately 14–18 match days during the season.
• Season: 2027 Championship campaign, with the objective of promotion to Super League in 2028.
