Sponsors & Members presentation evening

Robbie Mulhern dominated the individual awards as Leigh Leopards sponsors and members celebrated a record-breaking 2023 season with a successful presentation evening at Leigh Sports Village.

Called up into the England squad earlier in the day, the 28-year-old enjoyed an outstanding first season at LSV and was considered unlucky not to join team-mates John Asiata, Josh Charnley, Edwin Ipape, Lachlan Lam, and Tom Amone in the Betfred Super League Dream Team.

Mulhern was chosen as Player of the Year in three of the four membership categories, White Card, Gold Card and Platinum Card, and carried off the LISA Player of the Year Award on behalf of the Leigh Independent Supporters Association.

Josh Charnley, who broke John Woods’s long standing club record for most tries in a topflight season, was Black Card Membership Player of the Year after topping the scoring charts with 30 tries.

Leopards captain John Asiata was Players’ Player of the Year.

Tom Amone, the top metre-maker in Super League in 2023 was chosen as Coaches’ Player of the Year.

All the highly valued club kit and player sponsors received framed and signed mementoes of their support for the club.

A successful evening was wrapped up in style when CEO Neil Jukes was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award. Having earned HN#1084 during his playing career with the club in the mid-1990s, Neil returned as a long-serving assistant coach having enjoyed a successful coaching apprenticeship in the community game. He succeeded Paul Rowley as head coach and led the then Centurions to Super League through the Middle Eights in 2016, then to an 11th place finish in Super League in 2017 before the club lost out to Catalans in the Million Pound Game following a dramatic Middle Eights campaign. Since 2018 he has served the club on the operational board fulfilling several vital roles in his position as CEO.

Huge thanks to club owner Derek Beaumont and non-executive director Gill Wood for co-hosting the event, to all the staff who made the arrangements at short notice after the end of the season, to the staff at LSV, and to club photographer Mike Inkley for his coverage of the evening and his tremendous dedication once again to the club throughout the season.

Live coverage of the evening was available to subscribers of the Leigh Leopards TV channel and edited highlights by Media & Press Manager Terry Rytz will be available shortly on LCTV.
