Obituary John Lowe
Leigh Leopards are saddened to learn of the passing of former player John Lowe (HN#737) and pass on sincere condolences to his family and friends.
John, who was aged 79, was a native of Warrington who signed for Leigh from the Cadishead & Irlam club after earning amateur international honours.
A talented scrumhalf, he made his Leigh debut in a 10-4 home win over Blackpool Borough in April 1966 and went on to play 23 games for the club, scoring three tries. His last appearance came in a 27-12 home win over Widnes in October 1969.
He later played 55 games (5 tries) for Warrington between 1971-75, earning heritage number 721 for his hometown club, and later played for Blackpool Borough (heritage number 350). After calling time on his playing career, he concentrated on his career as a public house landlord.
