Leigh Leopards can confirm that Ben Nakubuwai has joined Featherstone Rovers on a season long loan.
The 28-year-old Fiji international has made 44 appearances for the Leopards, scoring three tries, after joining the club from Norths Devils in May 2022.
Leopards Head of Rugby Chris Chester said: “Ben is at a point in his career where he needs to be playing regularly and right now that is something we can’t provide here.
“So we have taken the option to loan Ben to Featherstone to allow him to get some vital first team minutes.”
Nakubuwai played for Gold Coast in the NRL and made 41 appearances for Salford Red Devils during an earlier stint in the UK. He has played 13 internationals for Fiji and was one of the 2022 World Cup’s outstanding middles.
He was a member of the then Centurions side that beat Batley Bulldogs in the 2022 Promotion Grand Final to complete a record-breaking, treble-winning season. Last year he played off the bench in Leopards’ Challenge Cup Final victory over Hull KR at Wembley Stadium.
