Leigh Leopards would like to celebrate the playing career of Gregg McNally, who has announced his retirement one day after the news that his best friend Martyn Ridyard was also hanging up his boots.
The pair will play their final game together as Rochdale Hornets entertain Dewsbury Rams on Sunday (3pm) and there is sure to be a big following of Leopards supporters to cheer them on.
Gregg was born in Whitehaven but is an adopted Leyther these days, after scoring 111 tries in 176 appearances for the club during two spells between 2012 and 2020.
He played a big part in the successes of the then Centurions culminating in promotion to Super League in 2016. He was a member of the Northern Rail Cup Final winning team in 2013 and was a Championship grand final winner in 2014.
His spectacular individual try against Salford in the 2017 Super League season at LSV showcased his huge all round attacking skills and can be enjoyed again from a YouTube search.
Gregg, who proudly held heritage number HN#1350 is one of only 11 players to score over 100 or more tries for the club.
Gregg’s engaging manner and often spectacular attacking skills make him one of the most popular players of the summer era with the club’s supporters, who will all wish him a long and happy retirement as he reflects on a memorable career.
