Betfred Super League Round 13
Thursday 29 May 2025
John Smith’s Stadium (8pm)
Huddersfield Giants 24-28 Leigh Leopards
Leopards produced a near perfect away performance for 60 minutes to set up their first win in four games and consolidate their place in the top four of Betfred Super League ahead of a much-needed break.
With 17 points from 13 games the fourth-placed Leopards are well placed to challenge for their third successive play-off place, with hopes of improving on last year’s ultimate fourth-placed finish.
Lachlan Lam, Ben McNamara and David Armstrong were all influential in the backs, Owen Trout again outstanding in the forwards as Leopards built a 28-6 lead on their way to a seemingly comfortable evening.
Of their five tries, the ones by McNamara and Lam are definite for the end of season highlights reel as Leopards completed in the high 90s and were disciplined and ruthless.
From nowhere, though, the Giants mounted an unlikely comeback to leave Leopards hanging on desperately at the end.
Momentum can swiftly change in a game and tries by Adam Swift, Sam Halsall and Leroy Cudjoe conjured up hopes of a shock home victory until the clock ran down on Giants’ hopes.
