Leigh Miners Rangers Academy wins King’s Award for Voluntary Services

Leigh Leopards are delighted to learn of the prestigious award to Leigh Miners Rangers Academy which has been announced today.

Leigh Miners Rangers Academy have been awarded a KAVS. This is the King’s Award for Voluntary Services and is in the same category as an MBE but for a group rather than an individual.

There are so many people and organisations that have contributed to this proud day and Miners Rangers have paid special mention to their founders, past committee members, current committee members and of course the army of volunteers both past and present who have collectively built up the club to what it is today.

Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont said: “This is a fantastic award befitting of a superb organisation which gives so many opportunities to the youngsters in our town. The facilities at Sutton Park are second to none and give a great focal point for the development of our great game.

“Our club has a very close link with the Miners Rangers Academy section and we are honoured to play our Reserves games and some of our Women’s fixtures there. The facilities are the envy of the clubs which visit us.

“Our relationship will deepen due to the establishment of our academy which will further the opportunities for both boys and girls to reach their potential and represent our town.

“I would like to offer my congratulations on behalf of the club to everyone involved.”
