Leigh Leopards are delighted to reveal the squad numbers in advance of the highly anticipated start of the 2026 season.
Head coach Adrian Lam has assembled a 30-man squad which includes five newcomers to the club.
Heading the new boys is Australian halfback Adam Cook who takes the no6 jersey alongside Lachlan Lam. The former Canberra Raiders NRL player has already made a big impression since joining the Leopards in preseason.
PNG international forward Jacob Alick-Wiencke has been awarded no15 and fellow countryman and international Liam Horne, signed from Castleford Tigers, takes the no17 jersey.
Another former Tigers recruit, Ireland international winger Innes Senior, will wear no19 while Oliver Polec, signed from St Helens, gets the no30 jersey.
With relatively little change to last year’s squad, the numbers have a familiar look.
Last season’s dynamic centre-wing partnerships Umyla Hanley and Keanan Brand on the right, Tesi Niu and Josh Charnley on the left and electrifying fullback David Armstrong take the first five shirt numbers with PNG international Lam at no7.
Lam was joint captain and ever-present in 2025 alongside Isaac Liu who again takes the no13 jersey. Lam made the most try assists in Super League last year with 41, 11 ahead of second placed and Man of Steel Jake Connor and has now been ever-present in each of the Leopards’ last 60 games.
Last season’s mid-season signing Joe Ofahengaue, so impressive since his switch from the NRL, moves up to no8 with England international Robbie Mulhern and PNG star Edwin Ipape completing the 8-10 front row.
England international Owen Trout and Frankie Halton complete the first 13.
Another ever-present in 2025, the versatile Matt Davis, joins Aaron Pene in the 17 while Bailey Hodgson, who had a breakthrough 2025 season and made the second most metres (3,907) in Super League, must be content with no18.
The impressive all-round squad strength is demonstrated by the fact that highly talented and key players Gareth O’Brien and Jack Hughes, so instrumental in the club becoming the third best performing team in Super League over the past three seasons, have squad numbers in the 20s.
Head coach Adrian Lam has always downplayed the importance of squad numbers and has always selected his team based on performances rather than reputations, a policy that has helped make him the club’s most successful coach in its history.
But supporters can now get their favourite player’s shirt number and name emblazoned on the back of the new home jersey and the away jersey.
The announcement of squad numbers adds to the excitement for supporters emerging out of a long, cold winter realising the start of the season is just days away.
Leopards play at Warrington in a Warmup Game this Friday 30 January (7:30pm), their only preseason game.
The season proper starts with a Betfred Challenge Cup third round tie at North Wales Crusaders on the 7th of February at 7pm, before Leeds Rhinos open the Betfred Super League season at the Leopards Den on 13 February (8pm).
This season’s numbers in full below, presented with each players’ 2026 season sponsor. Leigh Leopards would like to thank all our sponsors for their continued support.
