MY RUGBY LEAGUE JOURNEY: My sister-in-law started the women’s team at Leigh Miners and asked me to play to make numbers up. We had to merge with Westhoughton to field a team and spent years recruiting and building the squad. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in the game at the beginning and watch it grow. Helping start-up the girls section and coach the girls at the Miners, watching them grow, and the girls section becoming the biggest in the country. I got selected for England trials in 2014 but never made the cut but went on to play for Lancashire twice. My proudest moment was to play with my daughter and some of the girls I had the pleasure to coach. Playing for Leigh Leopards under a professional set up, playing at the highest standard is something I never thought possible for me. Doing it with my daughter and Mairead Quinn who has been on the whole journey with me, is something very special!
