MY RUGBY LEAGUE JOURNEY: I started playing rugby at eight years old with one of the boys’ teams at Leigh East, which included players like Brad O’Neil and Taylor Pemberton who now play for Wigan and York. At 13 I then had to move to a girls’ team so I joined St Jude’s, before trialling and getting selected for St Helens at 16. After a season at Saints I then moved to Wigan Warriors where for the first season I also dual registered with the Miners Ladies team. However, due to Covid and then starting university in Liverpool I had to take a step back from rugby and stopped playing for three years. On finishing university, I messaged one of the girls on the Leopards team who I was still friends with, as I was thinking of possibly returning to rugby. The next day I received a message from Kieron asking if I would like to join in some preseason sessions, and then began my career for the Leopards. (I also played union from 13-18 years old, including playing for Eccles, Lancashire and the North of England but picked the better code).
