05 JOSH CHARNLEY

Josh Charnley hails from Chorley, where he was born on 26 June 1991 and after playing for Chorley Panthers as a junior came through Wigan Warriors’ famed academy set-up. Charnley’s exceptional talent as a winger saw him amass 164 tries in 173 Warriors games and earn international recognition with England.

Charnley earned numerous accolades, including the Super League’s top try-scorer title in 2012 and 2013 and his innate understanding of the game, coupled with lightning speed and precise footwork, made him a powerful force to contend with for any opposing team.

He subsequently moved into rugby union with Sale Sharks before returning to League with Warrington Wolves, from whom he joined Leigh midway through the 2022 season. 2024 is Josh’s testimonial year and has reached the major milestone of 300 career tries to mark that achievement, beginning the current season with 291 tries in 341 career games.
