Gareth O’Brien was born in Warrington on 31 October 1991 and is a seasoned professional rugby league player, who has made a lasting impact on the sport. He began his career with his hometown club and made his first team debut in 2011. He moved on to Salford Red Devils, where his remarkable long-range drop-goal won his club the Million Pound Game at Hull KR in 2016.
He subsequently joined Toronto Wolfpack, where he continued to be a prolific point scorer until the club’s demise and joined the Leopards from Castleford Tigers. He began the current campaign closing in on 300 career appearances and with 83 tries and over 500 career goals. A key figure in the Leopards’ successful 2023 season, O’Brien remains one of the sport’s most talented fullbacks but can also play halfback if required.
